Marijanti Babić, our Senior Associate participated at this international conference in Warsaw, which was organised by the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

Opening the conference, Piotr Stachanczyk, an Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration highlighted the necessity of adapting data protection systems to present day requirements. He stated that “Our goal is to create a reliable data protection system: it should be proportionate, effective and friendly”.

The working sessions focused on diverse issues relating to personal data protection. Some of the main topics included:

• Effectiveness of personal data protection principles in a changing world;
• Current and future framework of personal data protection in the law enforcement and judicial sector;
• European data protection standards as a benchmark for others – practical experience, problems and future directions of action.
